Q1．自己紹介をお願いします。
私の名前は、ロニーです。中米のコスタリカから来ました。日本に来てからは3年間たちました。日本は子供のころから憧れていましたので、ずっとここに住みたかったです。アニメからすべては始まって、そこから日本についていろいろ調べました。
日本は戦争で負けてぼろぼろになったけど、みんなの努力で先進国になりました。そのことはすごいと思いました。
前は、宇都宮大学で修士課程を勉強しました。今は、広島大学のIDEC（国際協力研究科）で博士課程を勉強しています。
趣味はすごく多いです。一番はアニメを見ることかな。旅行も大好きです。火山が好きで、自然や、文化、遺跡とか、そういうところが好きです。博物館や、お寺、歴史的な町も好きです。それから、国際交流、読書も好きです。音楽聴くことも好きです。よく考えたらやっぱり、一番好きなことは、人と話すことです。
Q1. Please introduce yourself.
My name is Rony and I’m from Costa Rica, Central America. I have been living in Japan for more than 3 years.
I have admired Japan since I was a child and I always dreamed with living in this country. I think that everything started because of my love for the Japanese anime, and posteriorly I started to read more and more about this country.
Japan was devastated during the World War II, but especially because of the efforts of its people, currently it is one of the most important developed countries. For me, that is simply incredible.
Previously I studied a master program at Utsunomiya University and now I’m studying at the Graduate School for International Development and Cooperation, Hiroshima University.
I have multiple interests and hobbies. One of my favorites is watching anime. I also enjoy travelling, mountains and volcanoes (nature, in general), culture, ruins, museums, temples and shrines. Moreover, I love history and visiting historical places. Additionally, I love reading, international exchange and listening to music. Finally, I think my favorite hobby is speaking with people.
Q1. ¿Podría hablarnos sobre usted?
Me llamo Rony y vengo de Costa Rica, Centroamérica. Tengo poco más de tres años de vivir en Japón. Desde que era pequeño he admirado este país y desde hace muchísimo que quería vivir aquí. Todo empezó porque el anime me gustaba y de ahí fui investigando más y más.
A pesar de haber quedado destruido tras la Segunda Guerra Mundial, Japón alcanzó un desarrollo impresionante gracias en gran parte al esfuerzo de su gente y esto desde siempre me ha resultado muy atractivo.
Anteriormente estudié una maestría en la Universidad de Utsunomiya y ahora estoy estudiando en la Universidad de Hiroshima sobre desarrollo internacional y cooperación.
Tengo muchos intereses y pasatiempos. Me encanta ver anime, amo viajar, los volcanes y la naturaleza en general, las culturas y las ruinas. Siempre que puedo visito museos, templos o lugares históricos. También me encanta compartir tiempo con personas de otros países, leer y escuchar música. Entre todo, creo que lo que más me gusta es conversar.
Q2．ひろしま留学大使に応募した理由を教えてください。
前住んでいた町で、同じような活動をしていました。観光ツアーに行って、そのあとに色んな言語でレポートを書きます。それで、ひろしま留学大使の募集をみて、応募してみようと思いました。
大使になったら、もっと友達が増えて、この地域について細かいところまで知れると思いました。この国をわかるには、時間がかかります。この機会を使って、日本社会について深く知りたいと思います。
Q2. Why did you apply to HSAA?
In my previous city, I participated in similar activities. I visited touristic places and wrote publications in several languages. When I heard that HSAA was recruiting members for this year, I applied immediately.
I thought that if I was selected, maybe I could get more friends and know better this region of Japan. I think that to understand this country requires a lot of time, so I want to use this opportunity to obtain a deeper comprehension of this society.
Q2. ¿Por qué decidió aplicar para ser embajador de estudios en el extranjero?
En mi ciudad anterior participé en programas similares. En ocasiones visitaba lugares y posteriormente publicaba comentarios en varios idiomas. En cuanto vi el mensaje solicitando aplicaciones en HSAA, no lo dudé.
Pensé que si era elegido tendría la oportunidad de hacer más amigos, mientras entendía mejor esta región. La verdad es que comprender Japón requiere muchísimo tiempo y siendo miembro de la HSAA, espero poder obtener un entendimiento más profundo de esta sociedad.
Q3．なぜ広島の大学（学校）を選んだのですか？
日本に来る前、広島大学を見ていて、平和共生についてのプログラムに興味がありました。４年前から広島大学について知っていましたが、そのときは、原爆のイメージが強くて、少し怖かったです。でも、宇都宮市の人や、外国の人から、広島はいいところだと聞いて、広島に来ることにしました。
平和についての研究をしたかったので、広島に来ました。平和を象徴する町で、平和について研究することは光栄です。色々な大学に平和研究ができるところはありますが、一番おもしろそうなのが広島大学でした。
もともと広島に来たかったので、夢が叶いました！
Q3. Why did you choose the university in Hiroshima?
I investigated about this University before coming to Japan because I was interested in its course of studies in Peace and Coexistence. This was four years ago, but on that time, I was scared because of everything I knew about the atomic bomb. I hear very good comments on Hiroshima when I was living in Utsunomiya, so at the end, I decided to apply to this University.
As I wanted to research about peace, I consider that to study here in one of the most symbolic cities for the peace of the world, is a real privilege. It is possible to study about that field in different places in Japan, but I think that Hiroshima is the most interesting place to do it.
Finally, I fulfilled one of my dreams!
Q3. ¿Por qué eligió una universidad (o escuela) en la prefectura de Hiroshima?
Antes de venir a Japón yo había investigado sobre la Universidad de Hiroshima y el programa de estudios en paz y coexistencia. Ya desde hace unos cuatro años que consideré esta universidad, pero estaba asustado por lo de la bomba atómica y sus efectos. Tras escuchar muchos comentarios positivos sobre esta región tanto de extranjeros como de japoneses, decidí finalmente aplicar a esta universidad.
Como ya lo mencioné, vine aquí a investigar sobre paz. Creo que estudiar sobre este tema en una de las ciudades más simbólicas para la paz del mundo, es todo un honor y un privilegio. Ciertamente, hay otros lugares en donde se puede estudiar sobre este campo en Japón, pero sin duda el más interesante de todos es Hiroshima.
Como había estado interesado en estudiar aquí, ¡logré cumplir finalmente un sueño!
Q4．広島のいいところはどこですか？
広島大学の面接を受けに来たとき、尾道や広島市にも行きました。そこで、たくさんの人と出会えました。すごくフレンドリーなおもしろい人たちがいると思いました。
自然も多いです。宇都宮市は平野でしたが、こちらは、山があります。宇都宮と違って、広島には昔からの家もたくさん残っていて、日本風な家を見られることもおもしろいです。みんなが、平和への意識があることもいいと思います。
Q4. What are the good points of Hiroshima?
When I came to apply for the admission to this university, I also visited places as Hiroshima city and Onomichi. In that travel I met many people, so I thought that in this prefecture I could find friendly and interesting folk.
Here there are a lot of nature. The territory of Utsunomiya city is very flat, but here there are a lot of mountains and parks very close.
In contrast to Utsunomiya, in Hiroshima many old houses are intact. This gives this place a very "Japanese" feeling. I also like the awareness on peace that everyone has in this prefecture.
Q4. ¿Cuáles son las ventajas de la prefectura de Hiroshima?
Cuando vine para aplicar al ingreso a esta universidad, tuve la oportunidad de visitar la ciudad de Hiroshima y Onomichi. En ese viaje conocí a mucha gente y pensé que aquí hay muchas personas amigables y divertidas.
También hay muchísima naturaleza. Utsunomiya era una ciudad muy plana, pero aquí hay muchas montañas y bosques cercanos.
Otra característica de esta prefectura es que todavía quedan muchas casas hermosas y antiguas, lo que le da un aire muy “japonés”.
Por último, me encanta que en esta prefectura existe una gran conciencia sobre el valor de la paz.
Q5．日本への留学を考えている後輩へメッセージをお願いします。
最初は、広島のイメージは原爆のイメージがありましが、実際はイメージと違って、危なくないと思います。広島大学は、日本の中でトップの大学なので、色んな分野の研究ができます。私の国は軍隊がなく、平和な国ですから、広島の平和な町に住めることはすごくうれしいです。
今、1400人くらいの留学生が広島大学で勉強しています。色んな人たちと出会い、色んな文化を体験することができます。
Q5. Please give a message to your Kohai (the students) who plan to study abroad in Japan.
At the beginning, my image of Hiroshima was based practically just only in the atomic bomb. Indeed, the risks are much lower than I thought. Also, Hiroshima University is one of the best Japanese universities and you could have the opportunity to study many different fields. As Costa Rica is a peaceful country and there is no army, I am very happy to live in a prefecture where peace is so actively promoted.
In this moment, approximately 1400 foreigners are studying in Hiroshima University. Here you will have a big opportunity of meet interesting people and experience different cultures.
Q5. ¿Podría dedicarle algunas palabras a los estudiantes que están considerando estudiar en Japón?
Al principio le tenía mucho miedo a Hiroshima por lo de la bomba atómica y la radiación, pero me parece que en realidad no hay tantos riesgos. Otro punto importante es que la Universidad de Hiroshima está entre las mejores universidades del país, en donde se pueden estudiar muchos campos distintos. Mi país no tiene ejército y es considerado como un país pacífico, así que estoy muy feliz de vivir en una prefectura en donde se promueve la paz tan activamente.
Por último, actualmente hay unos 1400 extranjeros estudiando en esta universidad, así que es posible encontrarse con mucha gente interesante y tener muchas experiencias multiculturales.
