ひろしま留学大使 インタビューvol.５ Sant Dhanashree

インドから参りました、サント・ダナシュリーと申します。名前は言いにくいので皆に「ダナ」と呼ばれています。インドはとても広いので想像はつかないかもしれませんが、インド西部にあるプネ市が出身地です。プネは自然に囲まれて、教育のためにとても有名です。

私の専攻は日本語で、今、日本語・日本文化研究生として広島大学に留学しています。趣味は絵を描くこととハイキングです。それから様々な人々と出会ったり、新しい友達を作ったり、話したりするのが好きです。広大のいろいろなサークルに顔を出したり、西条のコミュニーケーションセンターや広島国際プラザで行われるイベントにも参加させていただいています。

My name is Dhanashree Sant, I live in Pune, a city in the Western part of Maharashtra, India. People usually call me ‘Dhana’ which is easier to remember. This city has many educational institutes and is often known as Youth city. I opted for Japanese language as my major in my home university, TMV, I chose to pursue it here as a Japanese language and Culture research student here at Hiroshima University too. 

I joined this course, Japanese language and Japanese culture research program In October for the Year long programme. I love to sketch in my free time and there are several beautiful monuments here in this city that I yearn to capture. I also love hiking in this lovely country. Ever since my term began, I have participated in new events, and made new friends, learning new things every time. I am also part of the two art circles in Hiroshima University and have officially been part of events organized by communication center of Higashi Hiroshima and Hiroshima International Plaza.

10月ごろに広大で行われた新入生のオリエンテーションでHSAAのことをはじめて耳にしました。私は色々なイベントに参加するのが好きだから、これはとても良い機会だと思いました。これをきっかけに知り合いの輪を広げるだけではなく、とても良い勉強にもなると考えたからです。加えて、母国のことや文化もみんなに伝えられればと思いました。HSAAを経て広島に暮らす者として平和を勉強しながら、広島を知っていただければと思います。

It was during the orientation lecture at Hiroshima University that I understood about HSAA. As a social person, I thought of this as a good opportunity to interact with International and Japanese students and people. With HSAA, it will help me be part of a team to create　awareness of the social and cultural aspect of Japan and other countries, besides it will help to create more awareness about India and its culture by sharing my experiences. 

日本にきたのは今回で2回目ですが、広島ははじめてでした。3年前、福島にインターンシップに行きました。このインターンシップをきっかけに日本語にもっと興味を持つようになり、日本語を専攻にすることにしました。そして、また留学すことになって、日本全国で広島大学を第一希望にしました。なぜかと言うと言語教育や教育の勉強では広大は有名な大学の一つで、私がしたい勉強がカリキュラムに書いてあったからです。

I believe Japan as my country of calling. I was here earlier in this country on a three month internship to Fukushima, where I learnt closely the intricate details of the Japanese language and decided to major in this language. Then I was selected for the MONKASHO scholarship where my choice was to come to Hiroshima University for Hirodai is very focused to the Japanese language education that I feel important if you really want to understand Japanese language.

「広島」と聞いたとたん、残念なことに「原爆が落とされたところ」と喉まで出て来ます。私は広島大学に行くことになった時に何人からも「大丈夫？そこは安全なの？」と聞かれました。ですが、自分自身が広島で実際に生活してみて、広島が大好きになりました。今「広島」と聞くと「カープ」が一番最初に頭の中に浮かんできます。続いて、広島風お好み焼き、美しい宮島、西条の酒蔵通りなどの限りがないほどたくさんの魅力的な文化や場所が思い浮かびます。

中でも、広島のとても穏やかなところは一番素晴らしいと思いました。苦しい思い出があってもそれを乗り超えて、人々がいつも笑顔で皆を暖かく迎える姿は一生忘れられません。

The words that connect Hiroshima are sadly about the incident of atomic bombing and the pain that the citizens lived with. I was often asked whether it is safe to be here in Hiroshima, but what I leant coming here is how to grow out of the ashes and rebuilt a new life, and yet not forget the roots. For me Hiroshima also connects me with CARP, wholesome food like the Hiroshima style Okonomiyaki, or finding solace in Miyajima. The more I travel across Hiroshima, the more I connect with the city, finding its peace, leading me to find my own too in return. The people here are humble, peace loving, and have kindness in their hearts to welcome others.

私は言葉が人と人の掛け橋になると思っています。それを体験しつつ、すばらしい季節を味わいながら勉強していただければと思います。

I think language connets the people and you can experience the same, which encourage you studying here while enjoying beautiful seasons of Japan.
